Her Servant 8 - Damn Bell

Kagome was absent from school today, and Inuyasha was determined to find out why, surprising Kagome's mother.



"Where's Kagome?" he asked.



"She's sick in bed," Mrs. Higurashi answered. "Could you do me a favor?"



"Sure," Inuyasha replied. "What is it?"



"Kagome's too sick for me to leave alone, and Souta has a role in a play. His grandfather's with him but-"



"Keh," Inuyasha waved the lady off, "go see the play, I'll watch her."



"You will?" she asked happily, dragging him into a hug. "Now here's what you'll need to know..."

Ring, ring.



Inuyasha dropped the vacuum. 'I hate that bell,' he thought bitterly. But it was necessary, Kagome's throat was so sore she couldn't yell if she needed anything.



Inuyasha walked into Kagome's room. "What can I get you?"



"Can you fluff my pillow?" the sick girl asked pitifully.



Inuyasha gently sat her up and did as she requested, then he tucked her back in. "Anything else?"



Kagome shook her head and closed her eyes.

Ten minutes later...



Ring, ring.



Inuyasha rushed to Kagome's room.



"I'm thirsty," she croaked out.



"I'll get you some juice."

Five minutes later...



Ring, ring.



"I'd like to try to eat something."



Inuyasha prepared some chicken soup.

Twenty minutes later...



Ri-



"Goddammit!" Inuyasha bellowed. He was almost finished the vacuuming!



He stomped up to his mistress's room. 'She's doing it on purpose, I know she is!'



"I'm lonely, can you take me downstairs?" Kagome asked.



"Sure," Inuyasha smiled, "I'll prepare the couch."

"I'm so embarrassed!" Kagome wailed.



Inuyasha rubbed her back soothingly, "Don't be, it's my fault. Your mother told me you were having trouble keeping food down, I should have brought down the bucket."



He gently lifted her puke covered form, "let's get you cleaned up and changed."

Inuyasha sighed mournfully as he saw the extent of the splatter. Just two more seconds and she would have made it.



After almost an hour of scrubbing, he was sure he'd gotten the remains of Kagome's dinner off the floor and walls. There was only one small trace of it left.  He grabbed Kagome's school shoes. They didn't get splattered too badly, but he didn't want her to be harassed over them. And he couldn't find any shoe polish.



'I guess a spit-shine will have to do,' he griped to himself, finally feeling like the lowly servant people were starting to see him as.
